temporary semi-protection , I suggest a lock until release, otherwise this page is going to be filled with Rumours, etc..Message from XENUu, t 21:25, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Declined – Pages are not protected pre-emptively. —EncMstr (talk) 21:29, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

semi-protection. IP Vandalism. IPs continue to remove part of the lead section after many have been informed of the change by WP:PW.--WillC 20:26, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

- Thank you for protecting it, I became tired of all the ips.--WillC 20:58, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
semi-protection. There is a continuous vandalism by IPs and certain accounts that want to undermine the long standing consensus about the geographic location of the country. Right now it is fully protected but it expires in several hours. The problem is that the dispute is not likely to be solved anytime soon, that is why I need to ask you to permanently semi-protect the page. The IP edit warring as you could see in previous days' editing history is not likely not stop.Editors are tired of having to revert things over and over again. The protection Has to be permanent and not some 24 hour or 3 day protection.I would love if something temporary was possible so that new editors dont have any obstacles however,it does not seem to work. --Satt 2 (talk) 19:38, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Declined Asking for pre-emptive reprotection before a previous protection expires (as intended by the admin who set that prot) is pretty poor form. You're welcome to ask that admin for an extension, but there was a clear intent for expiration, so let that happen and see what happens before asking for more protection. I'll watchlist it for a while. DMacks (talk) 20:56, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

semi-protection. A banned user keeps returning with new sockpuppets within hours of previous sockpuppet being banned. Semi protection is needed to stop his new accounts from pushing his point of view in the article (and hopefully persuading him to take part in discussion). User above seems to think he has full monoploy over page content. It was agreed to keep the order in question alphabetical but user above went back on his word. Getstan (talk|contribs) 17:17, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Current requests for unprotection
If you simply want to make spelling corrections or add information to a protected page that is not disputed, and you are not involved in any disputes there, consider simply adding {{Editprotected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. See the list of current {{Editprotected}} requests.
If you do want a page that exists unprotected, please try and ask the protecting admin first before making a request here.
Check here if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
I would like to request unprotection of this page. It is my understanding that, in the past, the fear has been that the page was used in a promotional manner, or with blatant copyright infringement. I believe that there is now enough media coverage, in addition to enough releases and artists on the label, that the page can be created fairly and without copyrighted material. The page was given a very short life and is, now, I feel, able to be a better, comprehensive page. At the zoo (talk) 22:18, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
I am requesting full unprotection for the article "Teresa Sue Bratton." I would like to write an objective biography of Teresa Sue Bratton, who is running for US House of Representatives in North Carolina's 6th District, and explanation of her positions on issues. Please email me if you have any questions. Thank you.

I'd like to request unprotection of several dozen Dungeons & Dragons related articles. These articles were permanently semi-protected over 6 months ago by Jéské Couriano, as a preventive measure to deter the vandalism of various Grawp IP socks. However, rather than attacking the articles themselves specifically, these IP's seemed mainly involved in harassment in the form of reverting the edits of Jack Merridew, and to a lesser extent, harassment of Gavin.collins and Jéské as well. However, Jack Merridew has been blocked since March, and Gavin.collins has been inactive on D&D articles for a few months as well; not unsurprisingly Grawp has therefore not been harassing either of them on any D&D articles in some time that I am aware of. It does not seem like any of these articles are currently or likely to be under any threat from Grawp's IP attack, so it does not seem to make sense to keep them semi-protected any longer. If any of them do get vandalized in this manner again, it would make sense to return them to a state of permanent semi-protection on a case-by-case basis, and I would offer my sincere apology for suggesting this in the first place. :)

- I unprotected the first batch; Drizzt Do'Urden was not edit protected, but is only move protected. I'll nibble away at this later today. —EncMstr (talk) 15:28, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
I want to add Monty Python's Flying Circus to the page, but it won't let me.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.1.4.241 (talk)
- I believe you mean Wikipedia:Good articles/recent. Besides, that article isn't currently a good article, it is only at B-Level, so even if it was unprotected, it couldn't get added to the list. D.M.N. (talk) 18:37, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Declined According to WP:GAN and the article talk page, the article has not yet undergone a GA review. Wikipedia:Good articles/recent is semi-protected because GA reviewers need to be experienced editors with a thorough knowledge of content policies & guidelines. If the article passes its review,, the reviewer will add it there shortly afterwards. caknuck ° is not used to being the voice of reason 18:41, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
I would like to request unprotection of {{Navigation}}, which has been protected per Wikipedia:High-risk templates. That template is not in high use any longer. --fryed-peach (talk) 18:43, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Unprotected I also suggest listing this at WP:TFD to propose a redirect to {{navbox}}. caknuck ° is not used to being the voice of reason 20:30, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Current requests for edits to a protected page
- When making requests here, either:
- Provide a good reason for a substantial edit to a protected page. These are only done in exceptional circumstances, or when there is very clear consensus for an edit and continued protection. Please link to the talk page where consensus was reached.
- Demonstrate that there is a clear dispute over a protected page, and that a specific dispute tag would be appropriate to add. Please link to the talk page where the dispute exists.
Note: Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add {{Editprotected}} to the article's talk page if you would like an inconsequential change rather than requesting it here, though most of these should simply wait for unprotection. See also: Category:Wikipedia protected edit requests
As per talk page request. Many thanks! Girolamo Savonarola (talk) 23:13, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Just so I don't muck up a highly-transcluded template, I am right in thinking you want the whole contents of that page put into the template? That page isn't multi-purpose or anything? :) Thanks, PeterSymonds (talk) 23:18, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
-
- I just want a change identical to the cited diff added. However, simply overwriting the template with a cut-paste of my user subpage should be the exact same thing. Girolamo Savonarola (talk) 23:35, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
There is a necessary edit to make on this page, which provides misinformation on NBA history. In fact, the page appears to have been protected in the first place due to an edit war involving the change that needs to be made. However, there was no type of discussion - by either party involved - on the talk page made during that edit war, which perhaps explains why the page was protected in the first place.
Declined What specifically do you want the administrators to add? -Jéské (v^_^v Bodging WP edit by edit) 04:40, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
I think that you misunderstand. There is not a need for an addition, but rather a piece of content should be removed from the page because it does not actually belong there. A particular player's season is listed there when it is not acknowledged by the NBA in its record books. For some more detail, I have commented on this on the talk page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.31.252.152 (talk) 05:02, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- Deferring to another administrator here as this involves editing a section previously the focus of an edit-war. I'm unwilling to make the change, but it does sound reasonable. -Jéské (v^_^v Bodging WP edit by edit) 18:19, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
So what happens now? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.31.252.152 (talk) 07:13, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- You'll have to wait for another administrator. Another suggestion I could make is to use {{editprotected}} on the talk page and be specific about the edit you want to make; RFPP is rather sleepy at times. -Jéské (v^_^v Bodging WP edit by edit) 20:56, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Done. Looked right to me; I imagine if other editors have conflicting information/sources, they'll sound off. Tan ǀ 39 04:15, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

'Short term full protection Heavy vandilism with a note "This is the Zodiac speaking. Do you still think you can stop me? Do you still think I have a soul? - Not according to the history. If you did really see the Zodiac thing on the page, the Zodiac vandal most likely attacked one of the templates. D.M.N. (talk) 14:49, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Short term full protection. Edit warring on a highly-used template by registered users, without participating in discussion. Request for it to be reverted to its most stable recent version and protected until consensus can be reached. --Joowwww (talk) 10:21, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

- It looks like the vandal may have reappeared as Jwjkp. That user 1) installed Twinkle 2) made a bunch of null edits to autoconfirm and 3) made the same Charlie Sheen edit.
