This proposal has failed to attain consensus within the Wikipedia community. A failed proposal is one for which a consensus to accept is not present after a reasonable amount of time, and seems unlikely to form, regardless of continuing discussion.

A modest proposal:

I've seen some hideously ugly signatures as of late; ones that look okay when seen, but cause pain upon editing the page on which they exist.

I therefore propose that signatures that are described by two or three (I'm not certain of the numbers) of the below be deletable, to be replaced with {{unsigned}} on sight:

1. Any signature longer then 100 characters.
2. Any signature using an image.
3. Any signature involving Unicode.
4. Any signature using color.
5. Any signature using font sizing.
6. Any signature using superscript or subscript.
7. Any signature using bold or italics.
