Wheeling High School, or WHS, is a public four-year high school located in Wheeling, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of Township High School District 214, which also includes Buffalo Grove High School, Elk Grove High School, John Hersey High School, Prospect High School, and Rolling Meadows High School.

History

Wheeling High School first opened in 1964. Wheeling High School's mascot is Wille the Wildcat.

Academics

In 2005, Wheeling had an average composite ACT score of 21.0 and graduated 88.1% of its senior class. The average class size is 20.0. Wheeling has made Adequate Yearly Progress on the Prairie State Achievement Examination, a state test part of the No Child Left Behind Act.^[1] The WHS Congressional Debate team has won the Illinois State Debate Championship eight times in the last 11 years.
