webMethods, which was founded in 1996, is a company which provides business process integration software. The company is headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia, and has offices throughout the United States, Europe, Middle East/North Africa, Asia Pacific and Japan. On April 5, 2007, Software AG agreed to acquire webMethods, Inc. for $546 million [1] . The acquisition closed on June 1, 2007 and webMethods is no longer traded on the US stock market. Software AG is currently traded on the German Stock Exchange.
Partnerships
In 2004, webMethods formed a strategic alliance with GXS offering a best-of-breed combination of integration software and integration services to organizations worldwide. SAP and webMethods partnered in 1999 to release a rebadged version of Integration Server as SAP Business Connector to provide integration abilities with SAP.[2] In 1998 Microsoft and webMethods teamed up to produce XQL, a query language for XML.

Products/Tools
webMethods Integration Server 4.6 was bundled with SAP as SAP Business Connector before SAP decided to develop their own integration platform.
