The Institute of Labor & Industrial Relations (ILIR) is a graduate school at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Founded in 1946, the institute is the second oldest labor and industrial relations school in the nation. Currently, the ILIR is one of the top 3 programs of its kind in the nation along with Cornell University and the University of Minnesota[1]. Students at Illinois can earn a Masters of Human Resources and Industrial Relations (terminal professional degree) or a PhD in Industrial Relations (which is typically accompanied by an M.S. degree during the process of earning the doctorate). The school focuses on the MHRIR program and boasts the best placement statistics in the nation for the field[2] [3] [4].
Facilities
The Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations is located at 504 East Armory Avenue in Champaign, just a couple blocks off the South end of the quad. The facility hosts most of the faculty offices, the administrative offices, two classrooms, interview rooms and conference rooms. As much of the LIR program has interdisciplinary ties with law, psychology and business, some classes and faculty are affiliated with those program's facilities as well.
