Trinity Catholic High School is a co-educational, Catholic comprehensive school located in Woodford Green, Greater London, United Kingdom. It is split between two sites, with years 7-9 on the Lower Site, Sydney Road, and years 10-13 on Upper Site, Mornington Road. There are approximately 1750 pupils, with each year of 250 pupils divided into eight form classes. For nearly 25 years, the headmaster has been Dr P. C. Doherty. The school has been described as one of the leading comprehensives in the UK.citation needed In April 2000, H. M. Inspectorate described it as an 'Outstanding School', and it was given Beacon status as a Centre of Excellence; in the Chief Inspector's Report to the Secretary of State for January 2001, Trinity Catholic High School was singled out for praise and received a public accolade. Trinity Catholic High School's vision is based on Christ's maxim, "love each other as we love ourselves".
In 1997 Her Majesty's Chief Inspector for schools in his annual report described Trinity as "an outstandingly successful school". In May 1999, the Department for Education and Employment (DFEE) nominated Trinity Catholic High School as a "Beacon School" to show good practice both locally and nationally. In March 2006 Ofsted again judged the school to be outstanding. Comments from the March 2006 Ofsted report include:
"Trinity Catholic High School provides its students with an excellent education and continues to be an outstanding school. Standards are high and students achieve extremely well as a result of outstanding teaching. The leaders and managers believe that 'each child matters now' and this maxim is at the heart of their decision making. They have an astute view of the school's strengths and weaknesses through their excellent self evaluation. There is a clear vision and a hunger for improvement building on the school's record of outstanding success. The outstanding and consistent leadership of the headmaster over a quarter of a century is complemented by the exceptional management of senior and middle leaders."
In July 2008, Year 9's SATs results were the highest that the school has ever had. While National results had decreased in average, Trinity's had increased sharply. The headmaster, Doctor Paul Doherty said of the Year 9s, "I have found this Year 9 group to have been the most pleasant of all the Year 9s that I have had. They are certainly by far the best academically. These results are testimony to dedicated staff and superb students. I am very proud of them."
