[3] Opera Software announces that the Internet Channel will be free of charge for all Wii users until June 2007. After that, the browser will be available for purchase from the Wii Shop Channel. [4] September 27, 2006 (Wednesday) history watch The Truth in Video Game Rating Act is proposed by Senator Sam Brownback. The act would require the ESRB to have access to the full content of and hands-on time with the games it was to rate, rather than simply relying on the video demonstrations submitted by developers and publishers. [5] [6] Microsoft Game Studios announces that Peter Jackson will develop a pair of new series exclusively for the Xbox 360. Jackson's Wingnut Interactive will work with Bungie Studios to co-create a completely new and original chapter in the Halo series. [7] September 28, 2006 (Thursday) history watch Gaming PC manufacturer VoodooPC has been acquired by Hewlett-Packard. [8] September 29, 2006 (Friday) history watch The Video Game Decency Act is introduced by Senator Fred Upton. The aim of the legislation is "To prohibit deceptive acts and practices in the content rating and labeling of video games". [9]
