This is a Chinese name; the family name is Qi.

Qi Yuwu (Chinese: 戚玉武; pinyin: Qī Yùwǔ; born 28 November 1976) is a television and film actor from Singapore who was born in Guangzhou, China.

Qi was a Physical Education major graduate. He was the champion as well as Mr Personality in the China Round of Asian Star Search 1999, Singapore's regional talent search contest. Prior to signing to MediaCorp Studios, he was a model and had played the lead role in a Guangzhou TV serial.

In 2004, 2005 and 2006, he was voted as one of the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artiste on the annual Star Awards. He was also nominated for the Best Actor award in Star Awards 2004 for the drama series, Room In My Heart and Star Awards 2006 for the drama series, C.I.D, which proved his excellent acting skills.

In 2006, he was seen as the hot favourite for winning the Best Actor award for his good acting in the show C.I.D in the Star Awards 2006. Unfortunately, he lost out to veteran actor Li Nanxing. After which, Li Nan Xing admitted that he was shocked to win as he has been watching "C.I.D" and praised his acting openly.

A natural actor, Yuwu was cast alongside regional artistes in his debut TV series, Master Swordsman Lu Xiao Feng. This was immediately followed by Dare To Strike, another blockbuster co-production with veteran Hong Kong actors.

Though being young in the industry, he already has a large following of fans, an official fanclub and the first MediaCorp star to start a successful movie career.

His notable roles were in My Genie as Zhang Tai Ping, The Champion as Lu Kai Wei, "C.I.D" as Tang Si Wei, "The Peak" as Chen Tian Jun.

In 2007, Qi starred in the films The Leap Years (aka Leap of Love) opposite Wong Lilin, Ananda Everingham and Joan Chen; The Home Song Stories, again with Joan Chen; and 881 by Royston Tan, opposite Yeo Yann Yann. He too, made a guest appearance in film Protege, acting with Louis Khoo and Daniel Wu.

• Yuwu will probably take up MBA if he did not act?

Quoted by him: "If I did not take part in star search, I will probably further my studies and I think I will probably take up MBA because I am quite interested in the course and also b'coz my father has actually planned out everything for me!"

• However, Yuwu will not take up part time courses b'coz he wants to keep his eye on his goals.

Quoted by him: "I feel that my experience in this line is still insufficient and I would like to spend more time and concentrate on honing my skills and accumulating more experience in this area. (Need we say more about what passionate he is about acting!)"

• He was very interested in sports and so he chose physical education as the course to study in university.

Quoted by him: "It was quite fun. We learnt the theories behind sports, the technicalities of treating an injury and even the psychology of sports men and women. You know, like the whys' and 'hows' of feeling stressed and nervous before going for a competition

• He only starts to cook at an age of 24. Reason is that when he's at home, his mum normally do the cooking. Now that he is living without her, he has no choice but to cook?

• Yuwu returns back to Guangzhou about twice a year during winter times or Lunar New Year. However, he is adapting well to Singapore because he has a job that he simply adores.
