- In 2006, Pearson acquired Chancery SMS and PowerSchool; both are web-based Student information systems for K-12 schools. PowerSchool and a company of 160 employees [1] was acquired in March 2001 by Apple Inc., who then sold it to Pearson Education in April 2006[2]. ChancerySMS was acquired a month later, with the deal closing in May 2006[3]. These two products, along with several others (including state reporting systems and legacy products like SASI) make up the School Systems division of Pearson.
