Since 1998 PC Tools, formerly known as WinGuides.com, has developed and distributed PC security and optimization software for the Microsoft Windows platform.

Products include:

• Privacy Guardian — a privacy product to clean up internet and PC usage history

On August 18, 2008 Symantec announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire PC Tools, but that PC Tools would contain to maintain separate operations^[1].
