"One Moment in Time" is a song recorded by American singer Whitney Houston for the 1988 Summer Olympics held in Seoul, South Korea.
History
The song was written for and appears on the 1988 Summer Olympics Album: One Moment in Time, produced in conjunction with NBC Sports' coverage of the Seoul Games and which, in addition to Houston, also featured artists such as: The Four Tops, The Bee Gees, Eric Carmen and the film composer John Williams. The track is an anthem for believing in yourself against all odds as Houston asks for "One moment in time/when I'm racing with destiny/Then, in that one moment of time, I will feel eternity".
The video for the song is a basic collage of clips from previous Olympic ceremonies.
Chart information
"One Moment in Time" became another hit for Houston, reaching number five on the Billboard Hot 100, and stayed in the top forty for eleven weeks. The single also reached number three on the Hot 100 Single Sales and number seven on the Hot 100 Airplay. The song did reach number one on the Adult Contemporary charts for two weeks, and number five on the R&B Charts.
Internationally, the song performed better, topping the charts in United Kingdom and Germany. The song also reached number four in Switzerland, and number eight in France, but only fifty-four in Australia. It was a #1 hit in the Philippines, after then teen superstar Kristina Paner made popular Whitney's version.

"One Moment in Time" was ranked eighty-ninth on the Billboard Hot 100 year-end charts (1988), and stayed in the Billboard Hot 100 for fifteen weeks. It was Houston's seventh number-one single on The Billboard Adult Contemporary.

Cover versions
Although no versions of One Moment In Time have been officially released since Houston's, it remains a popular choice for reality shows. Notable UK performances include those of Susan McFadden (Grease Is The Word) and The X Factor's contestant Niki Evans.
Singer Fergie, then known as Stacey Ferguson, sang the song on Kids Incorporated when she was a child.
On August 10, 2008, performer Natalie Weiss presented the song at Joe's Pub in New York City for the Broadway Loves the 80's concert. A video recording of the performance is available on YouTube.
Top five America's Got Talent contestant Queen Emily (Emily David) sang the song live for her final performance on the season three finale.
