Sir Nicholas Michael Shehadie, AC, OBE, (born 15 November 1926) is the former Lord Mayor of Sydney (1973–1975) and ex-Captain in the Australia national rugby union team.
Shehadie was born in Sydney, Australia and is of Lebanese descent.
"Nicholas Shehadie was one of the all-time great prop forwards and an institution in the Australian team for a decade. He represented his country in more than 100 appearances and played thirty Tests (a record at the time), three as captain." [1]
Shehadie is married to the current Governor of New South Wales, Marie Bashir, AC, CVO (who seldom uses the title Lady Shehadie). The Shehadies have three children and six grandchildren.
