News 12 New Jersey is a 24-hour regional news channel reaching more than 1.8 million television homes within the New York City metropolitan area. The channel operates as an independent unit of News 12 Networks, referred to by its corporate owners as the “first, largest and most watched regional news network” in United States.[1] The channel produces 8½ hours of live original news programming daily, alternating with digital replays. The channel launched in March 1996. [2]
Coverage Area
News 12 New Jersey can be seen on cable systems in 14 counties in northern and central New Jersey: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren. In 2006, the estimated population of this news coverage area was 6,783,000.[3] News 12 New Jersey's main studio, newsroom and sales offices are located inside the Raritan Center business complex in Edison. The channel has remote news bureaus in Trenton, Newark, Madison, Oakland and Wall.
