Nana Attakora (born 27 March 1989 in North York, Ontario) is a Canadian soccer player. He is a defender for the Canada men's national U-20 soccer team and for Major League Soccer's Toronto FC. He comes from the National Training Centre in Ontario.
Attakora's potential saw him, prior to signing for Toronto FC, training with Everton of the English Premier League.
Attakora grew up in Orangeville, Ontario, while his father was born in Kumasi, Ghana. He grew up playing soccer, football and basketball. He enjoys relaxing, hanging out with family and friends and some of his sporting favourites include Michael Essien, Dwyane Wade, Chelsea FC and the Miami Heat.
Attakora attended Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School.
During the August 9 CBC broadcast of the Toronto FC-Colorado Rapids game, it was announced by the commentators that he had dropped the Gyan from his name, and would like to be referred to as solely Nana Attakora.
