In 2005, a new system of choosing semi-finalists and finalists for the title of Miss World was introduced. Candidates were divided into six groups, based on their continental regions. Two delegates from each continental regions were chosen as semi-finalists, one being the voters' choice, the other being the judges'. Additionally, winners of Fast Track events (Beach Beauty, Miss Sport, Miss Talent, Top Model & Beauty with a Purpose) are automatic semi-finalists. For example, if all the winners of the fast track events were from Northern Europe, there will be six semi-finalists from that particular region.
One delegate from each regions' semi-finalists will be declared as its Continental Queen, and automatically is a finalist. From the six finalists, two will be runners-up, and one will be Miss World.
