Presidential elections will be held in the Republic of Macedonia in autumn 2009. The incumbent president Branko Crvenkovski has announced he will not stand for reelection.[1]

It have been confirmed that VMRO–DPMNE and Democratic Union for Integration will have candidates in the election; the most likely candidate for VMRO–DPMNE is Ljube Boškoski.[2] He was a Minister of Internal Affairs from 2001 to 2002, and in 2004 was indicted to the ICTY in The Hague; he was acquitted in 2008.

Because of the 2008 election defeat,it is unclear which candidate will Social Democratic Union of Macedonia send, because they officially are out of the Parliament,as they act as a fraction.
