MacArthur Middle School 

MacArthur Middle School is a learning establishment located in Prospect Heights, Illinois, on the border of Arlington Heights. Enrollment is approximately 600. MacArthur was named after General Douglas MacArthur who served as commander in chief in the Korean War.

MacArthur Middle school is made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. The school is run by Principal Mr. Lee. MacArthur also often helps in the community with its M.A.D. (Make a Difference) day. The school's band, led by Mr. Dave Thomas, has won many honors in the Music in the Parks Contest in Viking Middle School and the Chicagoland Music Festival in Hersey High School. MacArthur Middle School has a faboulous musical program. The choir is run by Megan Murray and the Orchestra is run by Mrs. Burge. The also have many clubs including Student Senate, Bowling Club, Creativity Club, Yearbook Club, and Newspaper. These are just naming a few. Sports include Cross Country, Track, Volleyball, and Basketball where the compete against different schools. They also have been part of the Illinois SuperState competition. This school has taken many first place awards in music and athletics. In 2008, the concert band acquired many high honors. It took home two best overall awards at music in the parks, was named an honor band of Illinois, went to superstate, among with many others. they had very talented players this year, including a sax player, a french horn player, trumpets, tuba, and a very strong bass section.


MacArthur has undergone a series of tragedies when a former teacher died over the summer (2007). Just several days before the first day of school, a teacher, Mr. Bujnowski (B) was struck by a train and killed.
