The 31st Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards, given by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA), honored the best in film for 2005.

Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain was voted Best Film of the year. Lee also won the award for Best Director. Philip Seymour Hoffman won the award for Best Actor for his role as "Truman Capote" in Capote. Best Actress was Vera Farmiga (Down to the Bone). The awards for the Best Supporting Performances went to William Hurt (A History of Violence) and Catherine Keener (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Capote, The Ballad of Jack and Rose and The Interpreter).
