Every year the Indian film industry produces in excess of 2000 films between the 7 different film industries, Hindustani cinema (Bollywood), Tamil cinema (Kollywood), Malayalam cinema, Kannada cinema (Sandalwood), Bengali cinema, Assamese cinema and Telugu cinema (Tollywood). Each industry should have two lists, the first with a more detailed summary of the highest grossing and most critically acclaimed films, and the second with a more generalized film chronology of the particular industry in question:
