The lead vocalist (or lead singer) is the member of a band who sings the main vocal portions of a song. The lead vocalist can also be playing an instrument as well. They are sometimes referred to as a frontman (or woman), and are usually considered to be the "leader" of the groups they perform in, and often the spokesperson in interviews and before the public.
