Description
English: Flag depicting the Arms of the Komnenos [Comnenus] family under en:Isaac I Komnenos (1057-1059). A military family originating from en:Paphlagonia, the en:Komnenos dynasty of en:Byzantine Emperors began when Isaac Komnenos, a general of the Eastern armies of en:Michael VI, led a successful coup against Michael and was proclaimed emperor in 1057. He is credited as being the first en:Byzantine Emperor to have adopted the en:double-headed eagle as an emblem. Or, a double-headed eagle Sable.
This image has been (or is hereby) released into the public domain by its author, en at the wikipedia project. This applies worldwide.
