Harold is a 2008 comedy film, co-written by Greg Fields and T. Sean Shannon, starring Spencer Breslin, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Nikki Blonsky. The film is T. Sean Shannon's first full-length feature and is partially adapted from his earlier short film, which again was adapted from one of his Saturday Night Live skits.[1]
Harold was filmed in August 2007 in and around Great Neck, Long Island, NY which is also the hometown of Nikki Blonsky and Morris S. Levy[2], and is set for a limited release on July 11, 2008 in New York, Los Angeles and Miami, USA.
The film is rated PG-13 by the MPAA and by the television content rating system in the United States.[3]
Plot
The story revolves around Harold Clemens (Spencer Breslin), a 14-year-old teenager with a very early on-set of male-pattern baldness, and how he adapts to his aging look. Harold befriends his high school's janitor Cromer (Cuba Gooding, Jr.) and has a nerdy best friend Rhonda (Nikki Blonsky).
In addition to his unusual appearance, Harold's mannerisms, interests, and speech patterns all mark him as a mature adult male. For instance, upon arriving home from school, Harold settles in to his favorite easy chair for a leisurely perusing of the afternoon paper. In response to verbal bullying, Harold shoots back with cerebral responses that fly over the heads of his adolescent peers. He has a habit of referring to his friends as "fine fellows" and to good news as "splendid" developments.
