Giratina to Sora no Hanataba: Sheimi
|
Pokémon Diamond & Pearl the Movie: Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet: Shaymin (劇場版ポケットモンスター ダイヤモンド&パール ギラティナと氷空(そら)の花束 シェイミ, Gekijōban Poketto Monsutā Daiyamondo Pāru Giratina to Sora no Hanataba Sheimi?)[1] is the title for the 11th Pokémon anime movie. It was released in Japanese theaters on July 19, 2008.
The movie was officially announced in a teaser trailer attached to the end of the previous film, Pokémon: The Rise of Darkrai. In it, Regigigas was shown appearing from beneath the ground. This is the only teaser since Pokémon 3: The Movie to feature anything beyond a title and a release date.
The theme song for the film is "One", by Crystal Kay.
Pre-release
In addition to Regigigas, Dialga and Palkia were shown in both the teaser trailer and on the first poster for the film. Giratina's appearance and the current working title of the film were revealed in a second teaser trailer towards the end of 2007. In the March issue of CoroCoro Comic, it was revealed that Giratina has two forms: "Another Forme," the form seen in the Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl games as well as on the film's first poster; and "Origin Forme" (オリジンフォルム, Orijin Forumu?), which is seen in the final poster. The Origin Forme is the form Giratina takes when it travels between dimensions. Shaymin was also confirmed to appear in the March issue of CoroCoro Comic. In another trailer, it is shown that Giratina can travel through dimensions by a strange purple wind that look like streaks of power. One of Giratina's dimensions is shown in a trailer as a foggy place with floating islands, covered with a strange green thing like moss or grass. A middle island is covered in moss/grass.
In one of the teaser trailers it was said that "the battle of the Gods is not over yet!", implying a direct connection to the previous film. The final poster for the film does not contain images of either Dialga or Palkia, although Dialga is shown battling Giratina in a trailer released in March 2008, on the official website for the film. The Origin Forme of Giratina is shown on the final poster with the tagline: "Pokémon will follow the new light."
In a new trailer released on April 18, 2008, it is shown that Shaymin is able to comunicate by Telepathy, and it befriends the group. In the same trailer, it shows Shaymin glowing while floating in the air. Just recently it was confirmed in the June Issue of CoroCoro that its new form is actually a Sky Forme.
People who bring their Pokémon Diamond and Pearl games and Nintendo DS to thearical showings of the film are able to download a level 50 Shaymin to their game cartridge via wireless connection.[2] Those who pre-ordered their film tickets are also able to download a level 100 Regigigas into their games.
Plot
The Reverse World, where Giratina lives, is a beautiful and rule-breaking mirror of the Pokémon world. However, it has become polluted due to the battle between Dialga and Palkia in the preceeding film, The Rise of Darkrai. Angered by this, Giratina drags Dialga into the Reverse World and begins to battle it, unwittingly bringing Shaymin with it. Shaymin absorbs the pollution and battle debris, and the contamination causes it to explode. The explosion opens up a portal back to the Pokémon world. Dialga and Shaymin escape through the portal, leaving Giratina trapped in the Reverse World.
Ash, Brock, and Dawn encounter Shaymin as they have lunch in a field. It absorbs some charcoal smoke and explodes again; the group quickly realize that Shaymin is hurt and sick, and they take it to the nearest Pokémon Centre. Nurse Joy explains that the explosion is the result of pollution being absorbed into Shaymin's flowers. Ash, Brock, and Dawn decide to take Shaymin back to it's home in the Flower Field. Team Rocket eavesdrop on the conversation and decide to steal Shaymin for Giovanni.
Outside of the Pokémon Centre, Giratina manages to drag Ash, Dawn, Shaymin, and Team Rocket into the Reverse World through several reflective sculptures. Giratina attacks them all, and they are helped to safety by Mugen, a man who is exploring the Reverse World. Mugen explains to them how the Reverse World and the Pokémon World are intimately linked; what happens in one will invariably affect the other, usually in a detrimental manner. He then leads them all to a portal where they can return to the Pokémon World, and explains that the polution in the Reverse World was caused by the battle between Dialga and Palkia. Ash, Dawn, Brock and Shaymin escape the Reverse World, but the portal closes up before Team Rocket can leave. After the movie it shows all the legendary pokemon getting ready to fight this is sneak peek of the next movie.
Setting
Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet: Shaymin is set in an area based on Sognefjord & Bergen, Norway.[3] The staff visited Sognefjord & Bergen in September, 2007, to form a basis for the movie's setting.
