George Gatis (born 25 March 1978 in Townsville, Queensland) is an Australian professional rugby league player who played for the Huddersfield Giants in the Super League (Europe) competition. Gatis previously played for the North Queensland Cowboys and the New Zealand Warriors. His position of choice is at hooker.

A broken arm in 2003 followed by a knee reconstruction kept Gatis out of first-grade for seveal years until he was signed by the New Zealand Warriors in early 2006.[1]

In August, 2007, Gatis signed for the Huddersfield Giants for the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

Gatis, of Greek heritage, has played for the Greek national side. He received Greek citizenship in November, 2007.[2]

Just three months into a two-year contract with Huddersfield, George was forced to quit the club for personal reasons. It is unclear at the moment whether Gatis will return to the game in the future. [3]

He is currently playing for the Mackay Cutters in the Queensland Cup competition. The Cutters act as a feeder club for the North Queensland Cowboys.

He has been named on the interchange for the North Queensland Cowboys for the Round 20 clash against the Parramatta Eels on the 25th July.
