A décollement horizon is a tectonic surface that acts as a gliding plane between two masses in a thrust fault relationship. A décollement horizon can either form due to a low bulk modulus between bodies (usually in lithologies such as marls, shales and evaporites) or can form along planes of high pore pressures. ^[1]
