Release and promotion

In January 2008, Danity Kane posted a bulletin on their official MySpace page expressing that they were giving their fans a chance to vote for one of two new songs that they thought were appropriate to become the lead single, with "Damaged" and "Pretty Boy" being the two choices for online voters to choose from. However, "Damaged" overshadowed the competition, consequently becoming Danity Kane's first single off the group's sophomore album. On January 28, 2008, group members Aubrey O'Day and Dawn Angelique Richard posted bulletins on their respective MySpace sites stating that "Damaged" was indeed the first single from their most recent album. Danity Kane eventually performed "Damaged" for the very first time at Spotlight on Bad Boy R&B Night.[2]

The production of the song is featured on the seventh episode of the second season of MTV's Making the Band series. For promotion, the band performed "Damaged" on television shows such as the The Tyra Banks Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet, Nashville Star, and MTV's Total Request Live.

The song has been used on the TV shows, The 2008 VMA's Pre-Show, America's Best Dance Crew [x2] , So You Think You Can Dance and "MTV's Top Pop Group".

As of September 21, 2008 the song still sits on Itunes top 100 downloads at position #90. Thus making it 8 full months on the Top 100 Downloads of Itunes music library. The song has peaked at position #1 and has not left the charts since it's appearance on January 28, 2008. In the pop 100 downloads, it still sits in the top 30 of that chart.
