Biography

Personal life

Bleu was born in Brooklyn, New York City, the son of Martha and David Reivers.[1][2] He is biracial since his father is Jamaican American and his mother is Italian American.[3]

As a child, Bleu studied dance for several years, focusing on ballet and jazz.[4]

Bleu is now the first Disney Channel star to have his own Disney XD account.[5] Bleu graduated from Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.

Career

As a child, Bleu modeled for clients such as Target, Toys R Us and Tommy Hilfiger. In 1996, his family relocated to Los Angeles and he soon gained a returning role on the TV series High Incident and a guest star appearance on ER. Bleu also had small roles in films such as Soldier, Family Tree, Mystery Men and Galaxy Quest before he gained a lead role the 2004 film, Catch That Kid. After the success of Catch That Kid, Bleu signed to star in Flight 29 Down, a drama series about a group of teens stranded on an island. He also has a small role as Spencer on Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide on Nickelodeon--his first appearance being in the episode titled Guide to: The School Play.

In 2006, he had a supporting role as "Chad" (the best friend Zac Efron) in the very successful High School Musical, the Emmy award-winning Disney Channel Original Movie. Bleu also guest starred in the premiere episode of Disney's Hannah Montana. Bleu's next film, Jump In! co-starring actress and R&B vocalist Keke Palmer as well as Bleu's father David Reivers, premiered on January 12, 2007, and has since become one of the highest rated Disney Channel Original Movies of few time.

Music

2006-Solo career: Another Side

Bleu pursued a singing carrier. He signed a deal with Hollywood Records, a Disney owned label. His debut album, Another Side, was released May, 2007. A music video for his first single "Push It to the Limit" premiered on Disney Channel. The song was used to promote Jump In! a Disney Channel Original Movie in which Bleu starred in. "Push It to the Limit" reached Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 peaking at #15. Bleu toured with fellow HSM cast members from late November 2006 - late January 2007 in High School Musical: The Concert performing at about 40 different cities. To promote his debut album, Bleu performed at the NextFest tour 2007 along with Aly & AJ, Drake Bell, and Bianca Ryan.

2008-present: Second studio album

In a recent interview Billboard, Bleu stated that he begun working on his follow-up album. Bleu told Billboard, "There will be a lot of differences with the second album," Bleu says, "First of all, it's just more personal. I'm involved in every aspect of the writing. As far as the direction of the music, it's very different. I wanted this album to have something that was a little bit of rock, a little bit of R&B and a little bit of pop." Producer Eric Hudson is attached to the majority of the project, along with songwriter/lyricist Claude Kelly. Bleu performed unreleased tracks like "Close", "Whatever It Takes", and "Champion" on a summer concert tour with singer/actor Justin Stein. The tracks are set to be in the album. The untitled album is due out in February 2009 via Hollywood Records.[6]
