The Department of Journalism and Publishing at City University is one of the world's leading journalism schools[1][2].

Being considered as one of the best universities in the United Kingdom in that field of study[3] as well as the nation's largest centre for journalism education[4], it is regarded, along with Cardiff University, as the "Oxbridge of journalism"[5].

Its primary emphasis is the professional practice of journalism and the role of practitioners within the societies they serve.

The Department is situated within City University's Grade II listed College Building, which dates from 1894.
