Chubby (mine detection system)

Chubby (mine detection system) is part of a mine-removal system developed by DCD-Dorbly Rolling Stock Division of East Rand, Gauteng, South Africa.
The system was developed in the 1970s for the South African Defence Force.
Chubby consists of three vehicles:
Meerkat
The Meerkat is the lead vehicle of the Chubby system or Mine Detection Vehicle (MDV). This rear wheel drive vehicle is a mine detecting vehicle with mine detecting pans.

Husky
The Husky is a towing mine detection vehicle (T/MDV). The 4 X 4 vehicle is a combination of a tractor and grader like plow and detecting pans. It is used to pull the Duisendpoot trailers.
Duisendpoot
The Duisendpoot is a mine-detonating trailer set (MDT). It will detonate any mines not detected by the Meerkat and Husky.
Parts
Redpack
This mobile set consists of a spare wheel module (front and rear axles, steering gear, wheels and propshafts), towing frame, loose spares (spare detector heads, lifing equipment)
Bluepack
This set consists of secondary parts (spare engine and major maintenance parts) for all three vehicles.
