Canadian National Railway Company (NYSECNI, TSXCNR) is a Canadian rail transportation company that operates the Canadian National Railway. It was created in December, 1918 as a Crown corporation of the Government of Canada to nationalize several bankrupt rail systems in Canada. On November 28, 1995 the company was fully privatized by the federal government when an initial public offering of shares was completed.

From 1918 until 1960, the railway itself was known as the "Canadian National Railways", using the acronym "CNR". From 1960 to present, the railway has been known simply as "Canadian National"/"Canadien National", using the acronym "CN". The actual company name, Canadian National Railway Company, has been used from 1918 to present.
