History

The construction of the plant started in 1975. The German KWU wanted to build two 1.300 MW pressurized water reactors, identical with the two reactors from the German Biblis Nuclear Power Plant. The start up was planned for 1982. But in the year 1979 the construction of the two reactors was suspended.[1]

Since 2004 the building gets more and more into criticism because of Iran's atomic program. The start up of the Bushehr nuclear power plant is planned for the year 2009. A further two reactors of the same type are planned. One unit was canceled.[1]
