Notable releases

• January 31 - Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the successor to the GameCube's best-selling game, Super Smash Bros. Melee,^[1][2] was released in Japan for the Wii.
• April 29 - The long expected and delayed Grand Theft Auto IV was released simultaneously for both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
• May 23 - The delayed and highly anticipated HAZE will be released for the Playstation 3.
• June 12 - The highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be released world wide alongside the special MGS4 PlayStation 3 bundle.
• September 5 - Spore, a Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows game that has gathered much attention for its use of procedural generation.
• November 3 - The second installment in the Gears of War trilogy, Gears of War 2, will be released in both a standard edition and a limited collector's edition for the Xbox 360.
