The 2008–09 Chicago Blackhawks season will see the Blackhawks try to qualify for the postseason.

Regular season
On July 16, 2008, it was announced that the Blackhawks would play the second outdoor NHL Winter Classic on New Years Day 2009 at Wrigley Field against the Detroit Red Wings.[1]
