2005 FIA GT Championship season

The 2005 FIA GT Championship season was the 9th season of FIA GT Championship. It is a series comprised of Grand Touring style cars broken into two classes based on power and manufacturer involvement, called GT1 and GT2. An invitational G2 class is also allowed to participate, but does not count towards the championships. It began on April 10, 2005 and ended November 25, 2005 after 11 races.

Season Results
Drivers Championship
Points were awarded to the top 8 finishers in the order of 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 except at the Spa 24 Hours, where half points were also allocated to the leaders at the 12 hours mark.
GT1 Standings
The GT1 Drivers’ Championship was awarded to Gabiele Gardel of Switzerland, who drove a Ferrari 550 Maranello for the Larbre Competition team.
GT2 Standings
The GT2 Drivers’ Championship was awarded jointly to German drivers Mike Rockenfeller and Marc Lieb who shared a Porsche 996 GT3 RSR entered by GruppeM Racing.
Teams Championship
Points are awarded to the top 8 finishers in the order of 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 except at the Spa 24 Hours, where half points are also granted for the leaders at 12 hours. Both cars score points towards the championship regardless of finishing position.
