2004–05 Columbus Blue Jackets season
|
The 2004–05 Columbus Blue Jackets season would have been the Blue Jackets' 5th season in the NHL, however, the 2004–05 NHL lockout cancelled the season.
Syracuse Crunch
A number of players from the Blue Jackets would play the year with the teams AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch. The Crunch finished the season in 5th place in the 7 team North Division with a 36–33–4–7 record, earning 83 points, however, they failed to qualify for post-season play.
Europe
While some players joined the Crunch, others would cross the Atlantic Ocean and play hockey in Europe. Rocket Richard Trophy winner Rick Nash played for HC Davos in the Nationalliga A in Switzerland, while David Vyborny would return home to the Czech Republic and play with HC Sparta Praha and Nikolai Zherdev played with HC CSKA Moscow in Russia.
